I mean. Birth control is by prescription in lots of places, because there are genetic and lifestyle reasons why they may not be a great option for you. The difference is that it’s usually low cost or free as well as easy to get said prescription. But that way, if you’re a smoker they’ll tell you to quit, if you have a family history of blood clots or are taking meds that may interfere, they can guide you towards another method of birth control.
